YCT Test information

 Research  indicates   that working   towards an  exam  can  add extra impetus to a student’s learning. Assessment   is an essential part of learning and progression  guiding students from one stage to the next via clear signposts.

Benefit of assessment:

For student: know how they are getting on, what progress they are making and understand how to get better They get the support they need to be motivated ,independent learners on an ambitious trajectory of improvement

 For teacher: is equipped to make well-founded judgements about pupils’ attainment understands the concepts and principles of progression, and knows how to use their assessment judgements to forward plan, particularly for pupils who are not fulfilling their potential;

 For Parent  :Know how their child is doing, what they need to do improve and how they can support the child and their teachers

Youth Chinese Test (YCT)  中小学生汉语考 试 is an international Chinese proficiency test  ,the test aims at examining non-native primary and secondary school students’ ability in using Chinese Language in their studies, personal lives and work

The YCT consists of   a  writing test and speaking test ,which are independent of each other ,the writing test is divided into four levels ,and the oral test is divided into beginner and intermediate

The speaking test includes YCT-Speaking (beginner) and YCT-Speaking (Intermediate)

The written test is made up of four levels from YCT Level 1 to Level 4.

YCT Level 1: for children who have mastered a vocabulary of about 80. Passed examinees can understand and use very basic Chinese words and sentences, and able to study further Chinese.

YCT Level 2: for children who have mastered a vocabulary of about 150. Passed examinees can understand and use very basic Chinese words and sentences, capable of very basic communication needs.

YCT Level 3: for children who have mastered a vocabulary of about 300. Passed examinees can produce simple and direct communication of their familiar day to day topic reach the primary merit level of Chinese.

YCT Level 4: for children who have mastered a vocabulary of about 600 and above. Passed examinees can carry out basic communication tasks of life, study and work. They can answer most communication tasks during a travel in China.

Results certificate: you will receive a certificate issued by the office Chinese Language Council international (hanBan) within three weeks after the test

Examination fee for written test:
 YCT 1: £5;            YCT 2: £10;            YCT 3: £15;          YCT 4: £20

Examination fee for speaking test:
YCT Basic: £10;                    YCT Intermediate: £10
